green heirloom tomato

So-I bought a green heirloom tomato and took a big bite, it wasn’t ripe yet, but I swallowed it anyway. I’ll have to be more careful next time. According to wikipedia, nightshades like green tomatoes, contain small amounts of the poisonous alkaloid tomatine.  At least I didn’t drink the leaves in a tea-that could be deadly.

I’ve been thinking a lot about death lately. I’m not depressed, at least I don’t think I am-but I am increasingly disappointed with the state of the world and can’t imagine a happy ending for the human race in general. This makes it hard to live among  people in denial of their mortality. I feel like we waste so much time on the wrong things. We don’t appreciate the simple pleasures of the universe enough, and people are always in such a hurry to get nowhere important-and yet they always hope they are going somewhere better than the present.
So what should I do about that green tomato anyway? You’re not supposed to store a tomato in the fridge unless it is already ripe…but I already took a bite out of it so I can’t very well leave it on the counter.

I think we’ve been on the same wavelength. I am so sad to be part of the human race these days. At parties, all I seem to do aside from some polite small talk, is quietly observe others. The loud mouthed, grabby types I try to avoid. Alcohol helps, but I don’t care for it now. Good luck with your tomato.

Thank you for your comment, and I apologize for the slow reply. I should try to do more with this website, it is such a comfort to know there are others out there making similar observations sharing the same plight. Unfortunately, (or perhaps fortunately) alcohol has never done anything positive for me (it just makes me feel like a slightly dizzy less intelligent version of myself and I start to miss my higher brain functioning). That said, polite small talk remains an area of weakness for me.

An intriguing discussion is definitely worth comment.
I think that you should write more about this subject, it may not be a taboo matter but typically folks
don’t discuss these subjects. To the next! Best wishes!!
